Discover the Golden Circle & South Coast

Upon arrival at Keflavík Airport, your self-drive car will be waiting for you at the airport. If you arrive early in the day, you have the option to upgrade and visit the Blue Lagoon (this is optional and not included). 

After checking into your accommodation, explore Laugavegur, Reykjavík’s main street, where you can enjoy its diverse shops and cozy cafes.

Pick up your rental car this morning and set out on the iconic Golden Circle route. Start with a visit to Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you can walk along the rift valley between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Next, explore the Haukadalur geothermal area, home to Geysir, the original “geyser,” and its active neighbor, Strokkur, which erupts every few minutes. Continue to the stunning Gullfoss waterfall and the striking Kerið implosion crater. If conditions permit, you might catch a glimpse of the northern lights from your accommodation tonight.*

Start your day with a visit to Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where you can walk behind the misty cascade. Next, drive a short distance to Skógafoss, another impressive waterfall renowned for its beauty. Continue along the picturesque south coast and stop at the volcanic black sand beach*, where you can marvel at the dramatic Dyrhólaey and Reynisdrangar rock formations rising from the sea.

As you head back to Reykjavík, consider a detour to the volcanic Reykjanes Peninsula. Explore the bubbling mud pots at Seltún and, if you wish, unwind in the soothing geothermal waters of the Blue Lagoon—an ideal way to conclude your adventurous day.
